Game On! Now Open at Minnesota Children’s Museum

New special exhibit celebrates excitement of gameplay as it makes world debut in St. Paul
June 2, 2025– Spin the wheel, roll the dice and get ready for this summer’s ultimate family game time. Game On!, an all-new special exhibit, is now open at Minnesota Children’s Museum. Making its world debut in St. Paul, Game On! was designed and developed by Minnesota Children’s Museum.
This hands-on exhibit brings the fun of gameplay to life in big, bold ways. Interactive games strengthen communication, collaboration and creative thinking skills while also building confidence and challenging muscles through big body movement.
Exhibit highlights include:
- Candy Quest – Step into a life-sized candy-themed boardgame where you become the game piece. Grab your favorite costume to become a fantasy character. Then spin and choose your path. Cross the lava river to visit the candy fairies at the castle tower or make a stop at the dance floor.
- Play in Motion – Test your limits on quirky versions of familiar games like a 3D Twister board, a twisted ping pong table, unique mini golf holes and a one-of-a-kind Skee-Ball alley.
- (Un)Board Games – Challenge a friend to one of three mind-bending tabletop games including Wobble and Bobble (a block building balance game), Sketch and Guess (a competitive drawing game) and Ginebig (based on the traditional Ojibwe Snake Game).
- Tot Spot – A dedicated spot for little gamers under 3 years old to crawl, climb and build coordination skills in a space made just for them.
“Playing games on your own or with others is a great way to build your body and your brain,” said Dianne Krizan, president of Minnesota Children’s Museum. “This joyful and playful exhibit gives families a wonderful opportunity to make memories and spend time together.”
The museum’s exhibit development team had a blast making fun experiences around the gameplay theme. Over the summer, the team will add even more elements to the exhibit.
“We’ve got a handful of other components that will be added and tested throughout the summer, including a 3D tower inflatable, more characters, additional game options and an added fantasy quest layer that builds on the excitement of the life-sized board game,” said Mary Weiland, senior exhibit developer at Minnesota Children’s Museum and lead developer for “Game On!”
