Private Play Time FAQ

Where do guests check in?
Everyone joining a Private Play Time session should check in at the security desk on the first floor (street level).
Do I need to tell the museum the names of my guests?
No, but you must stay within the maximum number of guests for the Private Play Time package you booked.
Do museum members count toward my total number of guests?
Yes. All adults and children count toward your group total.
What if some of my guests arrive late?
Late guests should go to the security desk on the first floor (street level). A museum staff member will check them in and escort them to the gallery.
Does our group have to wear masks even if we are comfortable playing together without them?
Yes, masks are required at all times for visitors ages 5 and older. Masks are encouraged for children ages 2 to 4 years.
What are your cleaning procedures?

The museum has enhanced its safety protocols and cleaning procedures since reopening in August, which includes an upgraded air filtration system, additional space for social distancing, and additional hand sanitizing stations. Will museum staff be in the gallery during Private Play Time?
A museum staff member will be onsite and periodically check in on guests during Private Play Time sessions.
Are food items and drinks allowed during Private Play Time?
No, food and drink are not allowed in exhibits or common areas during Private Play Time. Covered coffee cups are okay. The museum café will be open for coffee service and light snacks starting at 8 a.m.

Can I have more than 20 guests?
No. Due to capacity restrictions under the state’s Stay Safe MN order, we cannot exceed the 20-guest limit.
Can guests stay and play in the museum after Private Play Time?
Yes, Private Play Time guests may play in the museum when it opens to the public following their private experience.
