New Exhibit Coming This Summer: Game On!
Experience the adventure of game play like never before
Spin the wheel, roll the dice and hop, skip and jump through the rousing world of Game On!
In this new exhibit, currently in development by the museum’s talented in-house experience team, visitors will explore a variety of games as they challenge large muscles and put their thinking skills to the test.
Game On! is set to open in the Special Exhibit Gallery in late May 2025. Until then, here’s a quick peek at what visitors can expect.
Candy Quest
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to step into a board game where you are the main character? This life-sized Fairyland board game leverages whole-body learning to move visitors through a three-dimensional playing board.
Visitors become the hero by solving Quest Clues as they move around the game to find the stolen candy treasure. Be sure to keep an eye out for fairies, dragons and even a friendly troll along the way.

Visitors will move their bodies as they play familiar games, but with a quirky twist. Test out a crooked ping pong table, play a 3D Twister-style game, take your best shot on the wacky mini golf holes and try your ball rolling skills on our version of the classic alley and targets game.

Inspired by word games and classic game shows, Phrase Play challenges players to guess the phrase before time runs out. Take your spot at a podium and spin the large alphabet wheel to add letters to the phrase. Beat the clock to win the game!

Visitors can sharpen their competitive edge while exploring three unique table games meant for one-on-one or team play.
-
- Ginebig: The Snake Game – Based on a traditional Ojibwe game of chance, players throw “snakes” and win points based on how they land.
- Sketch and Guess – Spin the dial, set the timer and sketch!
- Wobble and Bobble – Take turns adding block shapes to the tippy tower until it all comes tumbling down.

Inspired by a game board path, the tot spot is a great place for our youngest visitors to explore the exhibit in a space made just for them. A ball run, moveable tiles, wall spinners and more bring pieces of gameplay to life in an area built for those two and under to explore.
